St. Louis University High announced Jack Behan will serve as the new head coach for the varsity ice hockey team. Behan brings more than 30 years of coaching experience and a track record of success to a talented Jr. Bills squad.

"We are fortunate to have Jack Behan as our new varsity ice hockey coach," says SLUH Athletic Director Chris Muskopf '91. "Jack's extensive accomplishments reflect his passion for and dedication to the sport, and his coaching philosophy and approach to character development are consistent with our Ignatian values."

Behan's coaching career is distinguished by five national championships with the St. Louis Jr. Blues (2004-07, 2010), in addition to 10 national tournament and eight championship game appearances. A seven-time Mid-States High School All-Star Chicago Showcase coach and two-time USA Hockey Select coach for 17U in Lake Placid, NY, he won two Mid-States Challenge Cup State Championships with Parkway South (1994, 1995).

"I have always maintained that victory is nice, yet the journey to victory is what creates athletic advancement and meaningful life skills," says Behan. "I look forward to serving as the new hockey coach at SLUH and leading with an emphasis on accountability, teamwork and commitment."

Behan was inducted to the St. Louis Amateur Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012 and received the St. Louis Sports Commission Sportsmanship Award in 2002.

He succeeds Kevin Fitzpatrick as the hockey coach, following three successive Mid-States Challenge Cup appearances by the Jr. Bills.
